Radiant Heating System Service and Repair

Radiant heating systems emit thermal energy from a warmed building component such as a floor, wall or overhead panel. This in turn warms other objects in the room including you, without directly heating the air. The air temperature in a radiant heated building may be lower than for a conventionally heated building while achieving the same level of comfort. One key advantage of radiant heat is decreased air circulation in the room which corresponds to a reduction in airborne particles.

The most common form of radiant heat solutions for homes is with under-floor electric elements or hot water piping. Because the heating surface is much larger than with other systems, a lower temperature achieves the same overall heat. The typical maximum surface temperature of radiant heating is around 30 degrees, banishing cold floors forever!

Radiant heating is also used outdoors: that’s what some overhead heaters at restaurant patios are. It is also used in roofs to melt snow and ice and on driveways to keep it clear of ice.
